The Benefits of Green Tea

Green tea promotes health benefits that the Chinese have known for over a thousand years. TIME magazine even included green tea as one of the Top 10 Health Foods in 2002.

The green tea has a host of health benefits that include:

A stronger immune system.
Less gingivitis and fewer dental cavities.
Well-protected liver and kidneys.
Protection against cellular oxidation.
Improved carbohydrate metabolism.

These benefits are largely attributed to antioxidants called catechins. Steeping either green or black tea or about five minutes releases 80 percent of its catechins.

So why choose green tea and not the more popular and readily available black tea? While both variants are derived from the same plant, they are processed differently – and this spells the difference. Black tea is withered, rolled, fermented, and then dried to enhance its flavor. The fermentation process makes the black tea lose its active catechins. Green tea, on the other hand, is merely steamed lightly and then dried, thus preserving the antioxidant content of the fresh leaf.

The superiority of green tea over black is well documented in laboratory studies, in catechin content, green tea is on top, followed by oolong tea, with fresh tea leaves ranking third, and black tea, last. In vitro studies further show that the capacity of these teas to destroy potentially cancerous cells has a similar trend: green tea up front, black tea lagging behind.

b.) For Prevention of Cancer
Animal research shows that liver, stomach and skin cancer growth diminished in mice that were fed green tea. Human research studies show results that are less promising but nonetheless significant. One study involving over 18,000 men found tea drinkers were about half as likely to develop stomach or esophageal cancer as men who drank little tea. Many experts believe that significant benefits can be attained with one to six cups of green tea daily. The data also reveal that green tea has no significant side effects.

c.) As Foundation of Young-Looking
There is growing evidence showing that aging and most age-associated diseases: cardiovascular diseases, cancers, arthritides, are promoted by cellular damage due to oxidation. Hence, doctors suggest supplements that contain high levels of antioxidant vitamins to at least delay aging and its effects. Furthermore, the study authors speculated that green tea, with its powerful antioxidant properties, “can help prevent photo damage in the skin.”

Juicing Your Way To Health

Benefits Of Juicing
Fruit juice is packed with health benefits. Be it orange, apple, mango, papaya, pineapple, watermelon, cranberry, grapefruit, veggies – what grass, kale, cucumber, celery, beet root, parsley. Juice is the “in” health thing.

The benefits of fruit juices have been established for years. Of course, the fiber-filled fruit is good, but juices can be absorbed much more and faster into our system. About eight ounces a day of 100 percent fruit juice is excellent!

The choices of fruit juices are as bountiful as the choice of fruits there are – and so are the health benefits. Drinking two to three glasses of orange juice a day would reduce the risk of heart disease and stroke. Why? Because everyone’s favorite orange juice is loaded with vitamin C, potassium and folic acid – all meant for stronger, healthier blood vessels and a better circulation.

Meanwhile, grape juice, cranberry juice and other juices from brightly colored fruits are loaded with antioxidants that only protect us from heart disease, but more importantly, cancer.
Juicing has become extremely popular these days because of one major benefit – the increasing prevalence of cancer. Name a cancer – breast cancer, colon cancer, cancer of the esophagus, stomach, esophagus, stomach, ovaries – and fruit juice can be helpful. They contain chemicals known as phytochemicals, which stop cancer even before they start.

Fruit juice phytochemicals also seem to regulate the myriad of inflammatory diseases that affect the body, from asthma to arthritis, to allergies.

Fruit juice is packed with the natural sugar fructose, which, according to the Journal of Clinical Endocrinology and Metabolism, may induce a hormonal response that promotes the building of body tissues – important for growing children.

Juicing has become the convenient way to get your daily serving of phytochemicals. Juice allows us to get the nutrients in an easily absorbable form that is less taxing on the gut. Plus we can get our juice in a number of ways: freshly squeezed, in slush, cooler, smoothie or cocktail. With so many choices and with all the benefits, there is no reason we should go without juicing.

How You Can Stay Young And Healthy In Ageless Living

Stay Young And Healthy In Ageless Living

Staying young and looking good is everybody’s wish irrespective of our age. Whether you are in your twenties, thirties or midlife, you naturally wish to stay and look young. Discover some valuable tips here to live agelessly.

The first step is a simple and happy lifestyle. Be contented and thankful with who you are and what you have achieved. You should still have your ambition and goals to set the direction for your life, but realistic and achievable goals are important benchmark. Life is about you and how you feel about yourself, not about whether you are born to riches or poverty. It’s not about a list of relationships you’ve been in, or your status in the world. It’s about you.

The second step is eating right. It is important to understand that the quality of life ahead of you depends on how you care for your body today. A balanced diet is one with the right minerals, vitamins and proteins from the right sources of foods and eating right means eating regular meals of the right portion. The healthiest way to eat is by taking whole food, unprocessed, without added flavor, sugar and preservative.

CUT DOWN ON SALT INTAKE as salt can push up your blood pressure and injure arteries. Salt deposits in the body can cause serious side effects; gout, kidney stone or gall bladder stone and even clogged blood veins.

CUT DOWN ON COFFEE AND TEA because they contain caffeine which dehydrate your body. Caffeine drains your body of water, causing skin to sag and look wrinkled. It also elevates blood pressure and makes your heart work much harder.

CUT DOWN ON SUGAR because sugar causes diabetes and even cancer. Diabetes develops slowly, springs on you suddenly and can result in the loss of limb, potency and even life. Sugar is known to promote growth of cancer cells.

AVOID CIGARETTES because cigarettes cause serious damage to your body and is a major threat to healthy skin. It robs your skin of oxygen and produces free radical which leads to premature aging. The most known side effect of cigarettes is of course cancer.

The third step is regular exercise. Regular exercise tones your body muscles, reduce body fat, fight disease and relieve depression, tension and stress. Do the exercise you like and weave it into your life on a regular basis. Vary the routine so that you don’t burn out. Sneak exercise into your day whenever and wherever you can.

The final step is resting well. Sufficient sleep is important to you, otherwise you rob yourself of the chance to repair your body and mind, you lose concentration and energy and you also lose temper easily. Eventually you don’t look good.

It is possible to start doing something now to completely renew yourself. Eat well and exercise regularly and within a few months and you will be able to see some results. Your muscles will be stronger, your joints and mobility improve, and your heart will be stronger, pumping more blood with less strain on your body. You feel more energetic and vibrant. You will burn more calories, and so your body and muscles are firmer. With simple life, and sufficient rest, your body will be renewed, you feel great, happy, healthy, young and vibrant

Posture Is A Reflection Of Your Personality

Perfecting Posture

We need to constantly check ourselves if we are practicing good posture all the time; at home, office or in the public. Try these tips which I learnt from my grooming class:

· Check out your posture in a mirror if you are standing straight up or you are slouching. Try to stand so that your ears, shoulders, hips, knees and ankles make one straight line. Stand straight and relax but don’t be stiff.

· Pulling in your tummy keeps your posture straight. When you are sitting, pull your belly button towards your spine.

· Check the old-fashioned way like what we learned in the school by balancing a book on your head while you walk.

· Write on some pieces of paper and stick in your room and around the house to remind you to ‘stand up straight’ and ‘sit straight’

· Engage in some exercises such as brisk walking, running, yoga or even tai-chi. These will help strengthen and tone the stomach and back muscles.

· Join a dancing class, be it Latin, Jazz or Line Dance, these hobbies help to improve your posture as you dance gracefully.

· Manage your stress well and you will naturally able to manage your posture well.

· Use a firm chair with high back for sitting and avoid hunching forward while working or driving.

· Keep reminding yourself to stand or sit straight at all times.

· Have a healthy diet that includes all the necessary nutrients and calcium to strengthen your spine.

Start improving your posture today! and keep up with your good work!
